The advert

Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q) invites applications for one (1) open-rank teaching faculty position in Instructional French. The successful candidate will have native or near-native proficiency in French, an advanced command of English, and an M.A. or Ph.D. in applied linguistics, FLE (Teaching French as a Foreign Language), SLA (Second Language Acquisition), or a related field, with expertise in French language and linguistics, as well as pedagogy. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in teaching French at all levels. They will also have a record of effective instruction in skill-based courses (e.g., Academic Writing) and in leading co-curricular and experiential learning activities that support French language development. Familiarity with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and its proficiency benchmarks would be an advantage. Academic Environment and Faculty Support Teaching Faculty teach three courses (or 9 credit hours) per semester (a 3-3 load), supported by best-in-class instructional infrastructure. Eligibility for funding through the Qatar Research, Development, and Innovation Council (QRDI). Eligibility to apply for a summer research supplement equivalent to 2/9 of base salary.
