About the Role

Do you have the patience, resilience and compassion to help a young person thrive?

We're looking for a 1:1 Pastoral Support Worker to work closely with a student with autism, helping them build confidence, develop independence, and feel safe, supported and successful in their education.

This is far more than a support role. You'll be a trusted adult, mentor and advocate, providing consistency, encouragement and emotional support that helps a young person overcome barriers and achieve their potential.

Working as part of a specialist multi-disciplinary team, you'll help create positive daily experiences, celebrate progress, and make a genuine difference to a student's life, both inside and outside the classroom.

Whether your experience comes from education, care, youth work, mentoring, coaching, residential support or a similar people-focused role, if you're passionate about helping young people succeed, we'd love to hear from you.

What you will bring

• Providing dedicated 1:1 support tailored to a student's individual needs.

• Building a positive, trusting relationship that promotes confidence and emotional wellbeing.

• Supporting engagement in learning, social activities, and everyday school life.

• Helping students develop communication skills, independence and self-esteem.

• Using positive behaviour and wellbeing strategies to support successful outcomes.

• Working closely with teachers, therapists, families and other professionals.

• Monitoring progress and celebrating achievements, no matter how small.

• Promoting a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment where students can flourish.

What We're Looking For

You may currently work as a Support Worker, Teaching Assistant, Care Worker, Youth Worker, Behaviour Mentor, Key Worker, Residential Support Worker or in another role supporting young people or vulnerable individuals.

• Passionate about helping young people overcome challenges and reach their potential.

• Calm, patient and resilient when faced with complex situations.

• Naturally able to build trust and positive relationships.

• Confident supporting emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour.

• A strong communicator who works well as part of a team.

• Flexible, proactive and committed to making a difference every day.

• Dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
