About the Role
At Brookthorpe Hall School, we're looking for an ambitious and inspiring STEM Lead to drive our STEM provision and help create exciting learning experiences for our students.
This is a fantastic opportunity to combine your passion for teaching with the chance to lead and influence the curriculum. You'll continue to make an impact in the classroom while supporting colleagues, raising standards and helping students develop curiosity, creativity and problem-solving skills.
Working with young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, you'll understand that success isn't always a straight path. Through engaging lessons, strong relationships and high expectations, you'll help students overcome barriers, build confidence and achieve their potential.
More than a leadership role, this is an opportunity to inspire a love of learning and make a lasting difference in the lives of young people every day.
What you will be doing
• Lead and develop STEM provision across the school, helping shape an ambitious and engaging curriculum
• Deliver high-quality STEM lessons that inspire curiosity, participation and confidence
• Drive student progress and achievement, using assessment and data to identify priorities and strengthen outcomes
• Coach, mentor and support teaching colleagues, sharing excellent practice and helping develop confidence across the team
• Monitor the quality of teaching and learning within STEM and identify opportunities for continued improvement
• Create learning experiences that encourage creativity, practical thinking and problem solving
• Contribute to whole-school improvement planning and the strategic development of teaching and learning
• Work collaboratively as part of our One Team approach, alongside education colleagues and multidisciplinary professionals, to achieve the best possible outcomes for students
What you will bring
We’re looking for someone who combines excellent classroom practice with the ambition and confidence to lead others.
You’ll bring:
• Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification
• Level 2 English and Maths
• Experience teaching within a STEM-related subject area
• Strong subject knowledge and high-quality classroom practice
• The confidence and enthusiasm to lead curriculum development and drive improvement
• Experience coaching, mentoring or supporting colleagues to develop their practice
• The creativity and adaptability to engage students with a range of additional needs
• A commitment to raising achievement and helping every student recognise their potential
