About the Role
Lead Maths. Raise Ambition. Help Students Believe They Can Succeed.
At Brookthorpe Hall School, we’re looking for an ambitious and inspiring Maths Lead to take ownership of Mathematics across the school and help shape a curriculum that gives every student the opportunity to achieve.
This is more than a classroom teaching role. You’ll have the opportunity to lead curriculum development, influence teaching practice and drive improvement, while remaining closely connected to the students whose progress sits at the heart of everything you do.
You’ll understand that for some young people, confidence in Maths can be one of the biggest barriers to progress. Through engaging teaching, adaptive approaches and high expectations, you’ll help students experience success, develop essential skills and begin to see themselves differently as learners.
For an experienced Maths teacher ready to take on greater responsibility, this is an opportunity to have an impact that reaches beyond your own classroom.
What you will be doing
• Lead and develop an ambitious and engaging Mathematics curriculum that responds to individual student needs and starting points
• Deliver high-quality Maths teaching that builds confidence, understanding and positive engagement with the subject
• Drive improvements in student attainment, progress and outcomes across Mathematics
• Use assessment and performance data to identify gaps, monitor progress and introduce effective interventions
• Develop schemes of work, assessment approaches, resources and curriculum plans that support consistently strong teaching
• Coach, support and develop colleagues, sharing effective practice and strengthening Maths teaching across the school
• Lead quality assurance activities and use findings to identify opportunities for continued improvement
• Contribute to whole-school improvement and curriculum development, maintaining high expectations for achievement, engagement and behaviour
What you will bring
We’re looking for someone who combines strong Maths knowledge with the ability to lead, influence and inspire others.
You’ll bring:
• Level 2 English and Maths
• A strong track record of improving student outcomes and raising standards
• Effective leadership skills with the ability to motivate, support and develop colleagues
• Experience of curriculum planning and developing high-quality learning opportunities
• Confidence using assessment and performance data to identify priorities and drive improvement
• Experience monitoring student progress and contributing to quality assurance
• A strong understanding of inclusive and adaptive teaching approaches
• The ability to establish high expectations while creating a positive and supportive learning environment
• A genuine commitment to helping students overcome barriers and achieve their potential
