Teaching in Australia requires registration with the relevant state or territory teaching authority (e.g. NESA in NSW, VIT in Victoria). Overseas teachers typically apply for a Skilled Migrant visa (subclass 189 or 190) or a Temporary Skill Shortage visa (482). Teaching is on Australia's Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List, supporting permanent residency pathways.
