Pilgrim Pathways School

England operates a national curriculum across Key Stages 1–4. Most schools are state-maintained academies or local authority schools, inspected by Ofsted and rated Outstanding, Good, Requires Improvement, or Inadequate. A significant independent sector exists alongside, including prep, senior day, and boarding schools.

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is required for state school roles in England. The main pay range runs from £31,650 to £43,607, with the Upper Pay Range reaching £50,471. London and fringe areas attract allowances up to £9,167. Senior and leadership roles progress through the Leadership pay range. Experience increments apply annually.

UK nationals and those with settled or pre-settled status work freely. Overseas teachers typically need a Skilled Worker visa sponsored by the school. International Qualified Teacher Status (iQTS) allows overseas-trained teachers to gain QTS without first teaching in England — a significant pathway for international applicants.
