England operates a national curriculum across Key Stages 1–4. Most schools are state-maintained academies or local authority schools, inspected by Ofsted and rated Outstanding, Good, Requires Improvement, or Inadequate. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is required for state school roles in England. The main pay range runs from £31,650 to £43,607, with the Upper Pay Range reaching £50,471. UK nationals and those with settled or pre-settled status work freely. Overseas teachers typically need a Skilled Worker visa sponsored by the school.
