About the role
Background Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organization that advances children’s rights and equality for girls. Plan International has operated in Indonesia since 1969, and in 2017, Yayasan Plan International Indonesia (Plan Indonesia) was established as the national entity of Plan International in Indonesia. Plan Indonesia is currently implementing Country Strategy 5 (CS 5) covering the fiscal year 2022 to 2027, where the country’s purpose is in line with the global Plan International’s Purpose “to advance children’s rights and equality for girls.” Plan is a dual mandate organization, in development and humanitarian. Plan Indonesia supports the humanitarian scale-up, aiming to be the NGO partner of choice to promote and support girls in emergencies. While Indonesia is a disaster-prone country, Plan Indonesia will support the needs and gaps experienced by children and young people, particularly girls in emergencies. The Opportunity The Social Media Officer is responsible for managing Plan Indonesia's social media platforms to strengthen digital engagement, brand visibility, and public awareness. The role develops and publishes engaging content, manages online communities, monitors social media performance, and supports campaigns promoting children's rights, gender equality, youth empowerment, and girls' rights. Working closely with the Communications Team, the Social Media Officer also plans and implements national digital campaigns while ensuring all content aligns with Plan Indonesia's branding, safeguarding standards, and communication objectives. Key Responsibility : (1) Social Media Content Production Develop and publish engaging content across Plan Indonesia’s social media platforms. Create social media assets, including captions, reels, short videos, carousels, graphics, and stories. Maintain and update monthly content calendars aligned with communication priorities. Ensure all content follows Plan Indonesia’s branding, safeguarding, and inclusivity standards. Organise and maintain social media content archives and documentation. (2) Audience Engagement & Community Management Monitor social media channels daily and respond to comments, messages, and conversations in a timely manner. Identify opportunities to increase engagement. Monitor social media trends and recommend relevant content ideas and activations. Support influencer and partner engagement activities on social media. (3) Campaign & Event Support Support the implementation of national campaigns and public events through social media activations. Develop content for key moments and campaigns, such as International Day of the Girl, International Women’s Day, Run for Equality, National Children’s Day, and other advocacy initiatives. Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to produce campaign-related content. (4) Monitoring, Reporting & Learning Track social media performance using analytics and insights tools. Prepare monthly and campaign-based performance reports. Monitor audience growth, engagement, reach, and content performance. Provide recommendations to improve content effectiveness and audience engagement. (5) Collaboration & Communication Work closely with programme teams, campaign teams, and youth networks to identify stories and content opportunities. Support the development and dissemination of success stories, campaign messages, research findings, and advocacy content. Contribute ideas and best practices to strengthen Plan Indonesia’s digital communications. (6) Safeguarding, PSHEA, & GEDSI Carry out safeguarding, PSHEA, and GEDSI principles in every planning process, making risk mitigation analysis, implementation, documentation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting within the project.
